QUICK FAQ’s
WHAT IS MMF?
MMF is a community-generated film fund which invites its members to select and back new filmmaking talent and claim their slice of the pie should that film become profitable.
WHAT IS THE MINIMUM INVESTMENT?
Units will be available at £4.95 each. Members can purchase as many units as they wish, and move them around until the film reaches its targets and the budget locks.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each film sets its own targets up to a maximum cash value of £100,000 and invites members to support them. The films will be heavily promoted online, in print and MMF are currently pursuing TV tie-in opportunities.
Once a film reaches its targets, it will go into production with 'in-kind' industry support from participating sponsors. Completed films will be made available for theatrical, DVD, VoD and broadcast exploitation, and offered to our distribution partners on a first-look basis. Once the film recoups its production, distribution and exhibition costs, profits are split between members, filmmakers/producers, distributors & MMF.
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL IT TAKE TO REACH A £100k TARGET?
Dependent upon how many units members chose to buy, we anticipate that a feature film could be funded with less than 5,000 paying members.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
Participating members get to back projects that they believe in and invest in new talent. If your film makes a profit, then you too will take your share. Each project will also provide unique offers as added incentives (at the discretion of the filmmakers). These may include:
TV and press opportunities / cast, crew and soundtrack roles / set visits / behind the scenes materials / free gifts and giveaways / screen credits / Directors cut DVD's / VIP invites to parties and premieres / Fun ;)
HOW MUCH IS IT JOIN?
Membership is free.
WHEN WILL THE NEXT COMPETITION BE ONLINE?
We are aiming for early 2008. Sign-up to receive the latest information on our mailing list.

FAQs FOR FILMMAKERS
I want to send in my script but I’m concerned about Copyright protection.
All that you can do is register your script with the Writers Guild of Great Britain or Raindance
Who is eligible to submit?
We welcome script submissions from all UK filmmaking teams (eg: writers/directors/producers), production companies or individuals with some proven track record in filmmaking.
Can I submit from outside the UK?
Our current UK focus is solely in the name of accessibility, enabling us to record and monitor production of the winning films. Once the scheme proves successful then we certainly hope to broaden our reach to other countries.
Nationality is not an issue, although all productions and producers must have a UK base.
What is ‘a proven track record in filmmaking?’
Movie Mogul Fund is intended as a bridging scheme for filmmakers to enable growth between the no-budget and the low-budget film production. This is not a scheme for first timers. You may be an established filmmaker in your own right in the worlds of shorts, commercials, promos, TV, corporates, even no-budget features.
You must have the power to convince us, and the grizzly Movie Mogul community at large, that given this opportunity you will produce and deliver an incredible piece of work!
What if I’m an individual without a team?
If your script is solid then just send it in. We may be able to help make some introductions and recommendations on your behalf.
Alternatively, use the site to look for a team.
How come I have to pay to submit?
It can take 3-5 hours to read a screenplay and offer feedback. We have to pay our readers!
OK, how much?
£10 for shorts and £20 for features
What happens if I’m shortlisted?
If your project is shortlisted then we will be in touch to arrange a meeting to discuss your project and eligibility in more detail.
Must I have a Ltd. company?
For feature films, yes, short films scripts can be submitted by individuals.
How are selections made?
Initial selections will be made on the quality of the idea and the screenplay.
Your scripts will be read by a script reader and their comments and recommendations will dictate the next steps. A positive referral will lead to the script being read by a second reader, and then into shortlisting. At shortlisting stage, the rest of the team will read and discuss the projects and make their initial selections. All submissions will be dealt with in a strictly confidential manner.
How many members do you have?
